Learning Military Life: Introducing my new chapter!

Intro to Learning Military Life

When I first started Mom of the South, one of my biggest topics among readers was my insane online dating experiences. I openly shared the good and the bad (way more bad than good!) of the interactions I had with men I came in contact with on the dating site. However, since then, I have met – and happily married – the man of my dreams, and now I feel it is high time to retire (Rename? Retitle?) the “Single…Again” section of my blog. Bye-bye single mom, Helloooooo Army Wife!

Now that I’m a new military wife, I’m going to be redirecting the focus to Learning Military Life. I created a new tab for it, and I can’t wait to start sharing the things I’ve learned so far. So with that, I am thrilled to share with you the happenings of this new adventure! Hope you enjoy it! 🙂

  1. As a fellow ARMY wife I can say it’s been quite an adjustment for me. I was with my husband pre-military and I had a fairly decent career before the ARMY. Not anymore! It’s been a very hard adjustment. Our first tour was in Germany and we just got back to the US a few months ago. I won’t clog up your comments section but I can tell you from experience you get a lot of lies thrown at you in the beginning. Many of those things are impossible to corroborate until much later.

  2. Welcome to the sisterhood! I’ve been an Army Wife for 23+ years. If you haven’t been introduced to them, check out the Army Family Team Building classes (AFTB) through Army Community Services. They are army life 101 classes (I used to teach them.) If they aren’t being offered at your installation, you can take them online at MyArmyOneSource.com > Online Training. Level one is the best to take to learn all those things that leave most new military spouses scratching their heads. There’s a whole module on the crazy acronyms! 🙂

    1. Hi Constance!! I definitely would benefit from an Army Life 101 class! And yes, those acronyms are overwhelming at times. I’m much better than I was, but I certainly have more to learn!! Thank you for the advice!!! I have honestly been surprised at how helpful people have been so far. Very excited for this new adventure!
